At the encouragement (aka, pleading) of my husband, I started a massive reorganization and fall cleaning frenzy. He now has a drawer to call his own, and I have hauled away a sedan size pile of clutter. In the process, I unearthed a document I felt compelled to share with you. This is a legitimate form, a signed copy of which was given to a client a few years ago, when she purchased her puppy from a pet store in the area. I don’t think paraphrasing would do it justice, so I have reproduced it in it’s entirety. Please read it with an open mind, and with the realization that it is, effectively, an out clause to explain away a sick puppy that might find its way to someone like me (namely, a money grubbing, unscrupulous, falsely diagnosing cretin). Realize that their typos and poor grasp of grammar has been kept in its entirety for dramatic effect and proof of authenticity.

In our 44 years of selling puppies we have never seen the vet bills that are being handed out by local vets for simple ailments. It is totally understandable that everyone is hurting for money these days but the veterinarians have taken that to a new level of greed. We are seeing vet bills of $4500, $1600, $2000 for upset stomachs and/or diarrhea, which we can say for certain your puppy will get just from the stress of the move.  We simply use Pepto Bismol (1 teaspoon) to give our pups when this happens.  X-rays, Ultrasounds, blood workups, parvo tests are all the things we have seen being done for an upset stomach including hospital stays from one night to one week.  It is outrageous that they get away with this.  Please be careful and question everything they are doing and why, be on the defense at all times and CALL US IF ANY PROBLEM ARRISES. AT ANY TIME = DAY OR NIGHT.

Another new money maker for the vets are upper congestion or coughing.  With the temperature changes happening right now your puppy may or may not get a cold.  Our vet calls it woofing cough and when our dogs get it we give a teaspoon of Robitussin CF in the AM and one in the PM.  Within three days to a week it’s gone.  We can also see that a vet would give an antibiotic as a backup, usually that would be protocol.  We have seen bills for numerous X-rays, diagnosis of kennel cough, pneumonia, hospital stays for a week costing thousands of dollars.  A good vet can tell by listening to the puppy breathe the amount of congestion the puppy has, don’t let these vets take you to the bank.

I understand that due to stress my puppy can get an upset stomach/diarrhea and a cold.  I accept this and do not hold the seller responsible for such things out of their control.

and it is signed by both.

In addition, they sent a “Germ Statement”, explaining to clients about Kennel cough. Here again, they have explained, in their own, unique way, how not to be fooled and bamboozled by a another corrupt veterinarian. That is, in the event that you have unfortunately been unable to locate the vet whom they trust to diagnose WOOFING COUGH.

…Kennel Cough is viral and will last for weeks.  Now when you get your puppy home, he may clear his throat a few times nightly for a couple of days.  We have noticed this since we started using the shredded paper  This paper has a lot dust but it is the first thing we have found in years that works to keep our pups the cleanest they can be. We have had pups in the past go home and clear their throat, it is the dust coming out, it is nothing to worry about.  We have had people run the dog to the vet and have the pups put on all kinds of kinds of drugs that were not needed.  Even one was put under to undergo unneeded x-rays.  The cleaning of the throat will only las a couple days, IT IS NOT KENNEL COUGH!!!….

Yikes! It is just wrong on SO many levels. My point is, if you get something like this handed to you, think twice. They clearly have things to hide.

And then send it to me, and I can get a good laugh.
