I get a lot of phone calls from friends, acquaintances and clients asking how to rid their dogs of skunk smell. It is the time of year when dogs are out and about, and seemingly having run ins with the 4 legged stinky critters that seem to be everywhere. So here are some tips, just in case… And they don’t involve kegs full of tomato juice!
Skunk Off is available online and in pet supply stores.
Then there is Nature’s Miracle skunk odor remover.
If you prefer a homemade mix, with ingredients you already have, try this.
The link to the recipe is also available at:

Mix:
1 quart 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
1 teaspoon liquid soap dish detergent
Mix together and bathe (“Shampoo” in or rub down with) the victim thoroughly.
Use mixture immediately after created, as it is unstable.
Let sit 5 minutes, and then rinse with tap water.
Repeat if necessary.
For spray in the eyes, flush with water or saline solution (contact lens solution if you have it), ASAP. And make sure you call your veterinarian immediately, as it will likely warrant medical attention.
