Here are a few interesting articles I have come across in the news recently. I hope you find them of interest as well.
There was a study done recently demonstrating that dogs can distinguish between happy and angry faces. They trained dogs to indicate which 1/2 face shown on a screen (either the mouth half or the eye half), is happy or not. It turns out they can tell the difference. And, they prefer happy faces, when given a choice of the two. Check out the video and read more of the article if you like. Just go to the link below:

In another story, a dog was able to run for the first time thanks to a 3-d printed version of a prosthetic. Pictured below is Derby, a Husky mix who was born with underdeveloped forelegs. Finally, the device pictured helped him be able to run like he always wanted. Check out the picture and the story link below for more details.

And, Sissy, a dog in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, found her way to her owner’s side, who had been in the hospital after surgery. What makes her trip so newsworthy is that the hospital was 20 block away! When the dog went missing, no one realized she could even find her way there. She had been in the owner’s truck for the ride to and from the hospital before, but no one could have imagined she would recall the trip on foot. Here she is in a photo from the hospital lobby’s surveillance video.
